1. Expect the conventionally "pretty" look to come back. A-line and pencil skirts, sheath dresses, kitten heels, shiny pastels, jewel tones, and basically anything that resembles how women dressed in the fifties were all constant aesthetics in the Spring 2012 shows. Beauty-wise, voluminous hair, pink/peach or nude lips, cat eyes, and dewy skin are all compliments of the conventionally feminine trend.

2. Sheer and cut-outs dominated the fabrics of Spring 2o12. Sheer clothing has been a popular trend for quite a few seasons now. This trend was first seen in the Japanese street-style circuit around the early 2000s, but is now only becoming popular in large chain stores all over the world. Designers happen to love this, along with cut-outs, as a clever but extremely risqué way to show skin.

3. The sea, mermaids, and other aquatic related things will definitely splash their way into our wardrobes by Spring. As the inspiration for the most buzzed about collections of Spring 2012, the underwater world is possibly one of the few innovative trends of the season. Shirts and dresses made out of Neoprene(fabric used for diving gear), sea shells, pearls, corals, silhouettes resembling sting rays and seaweed-like detailing were all omnipresent in the runways.

P.S. Kanye West presented his first women's wear collection during Paris Fashion Week! It's quite beautiful actually. Check it out at Style.com!

Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog! I love all the picture you posted and the photos are really pretty. You also did a good description to the type of spring clothing. I also like the underwater collection. I think the seashell bag is really cool. Anyway, I am interesting to read you blog in the future. I am looking forward to see Kayne West's women's wear collection; you should discuss about this in your next post. Keep up with the photos. These photos are attractive.
Abby,
ReplyDeleteI really love the retro feel of all of the costumes. It all seems quite extravagant! I'm really curious as to how much these pieces cost. Do people actually buy these pieces after they are modeled? What happens to them after they are presented on the runway. I hope you can go into the "behind-the-scenes" details of fashion!
I love that you analyze all of the pictures that you posted. I'm writing about a couple of the trends that you showed/listed here in the future on my blog too! I think it is very interesting that pastels are coming into fashion now since pastels are usually for the spring!
ReplyDeleteHey Abby,
ReplyDeleteI love fashion, so this blog is like a fashion haven for me. It's interesting to see how styles simply repeat themselves. Here we are in 2011 yet the styles of the 1950s are making a comeback.
I really like how you posted pictures because, being a person that has no taste for fashion at all, I would have totally clueless what you were talking about had it not been for the pictures.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up!
Hi Abby,
