NOTE: I am aware that the Occupy movements are not merely street style events, but are calls to end corporate greed and the government's compliance to it.

The message in this one is so simple, but the image itself makes the "statement" I mentioned earlier. The solidarity of all these Iranian women in burqas to support the movement is amazing. GET IT LADIES! :)
In case you want to participate in the Occupy movement, but are afraid or unsure of how to, there is a project by the Outreach Group of NYC that enables people of all ages to participate anonymously through pictures, sidewalks, and chalk. Yes, the ones you use on black boards and sidewalks. To find out more, go to this link: http://occupywallstreet.tumblr.com/post/12586447641/the-outreach-group-of-the-nyc-general-assembly-has
& if you are planning to participate, let me know. :)

Not the Summer of 69' guy, I'm talking about the talented husby of Mandy Moore. He's an awesome musician that's too underrated. Check him out!
I wish I could see your pictures, but this computer doesn't load pictures properly. It is nice that you advocate for Occupy. I notice some people see the Occupy movement as disrupting the peace, but if this doesn't happen soon, then I foreshadow something along the lines of the French Revolution.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't see your pictures either, but I have seen what protesters participating in the Occupy Movement wear and I never thought about what they wore could convey such a statement. Very Insightful!
ReplyDeleteI find the words on the posters are very meaningful. I wanted to go to the Occupy Oakland movement but my parents wouldn't let me so it is nice to see some pictures of what I would have seen if i had went.
ReplyDeleteThis is a unique post for a fashion blog, but I found it really interesting. The messages conveyed by these people are the true statement, not what they wear. I loved the twist you put on this post, as Allison said, very insightful.
